Hey - Here's how I test: for RAM, I use Memtest86 from
www.memtest86.com. Download the precompiled Windows binary and make a
bootable floppy. Let the test run for a long time so all the registers
are tested - like overnight. Of course, if you get errors right away,
you can stop testing!
For the hard drive, download a utility from the drive mftr. You'll do
the same sort of thing as with Memtest86 - make a bootable floppy. Do
the thorough test.
For motherboard, you can try TuffTest Pro. Frankly, unless you know your
motherboard is likely to be dodgy, the problem is more likely to be
with the RAM and/or hard drive.
