Thanks very much

Both machines purchased from internetishop.com , about one year old.

Machine #1 I said laptop - technically it is called 'desk-note' by manufacturer - desktop parts, notebook size.

   IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 2.4GHz (533MHz FSB) Processor
   PCMCIA Type II Slot
   SiS 645DX/ SiS SB962 Chipset
   512MB DDR RAM Memory
   40GB ATA 100 Hard Drive
15" SXGA Plus TFT LCD Monitor
   24x8x12x24 DVD+CDRW Combo Drive
   Internal Floppy Disk Drive
   Internal Li-Ion Battery
   Built-In Ethernet Adapter
   Built-In Fax Modem
   Built-In 1394 IEEE Firewire
This machine has RH Linux 8 installed, and has been working flawlessly (Thus, I think memory & disk is fine).

Machine #2

   Pentium 4
   64 Mb memory
New IDE Hard Disk (no operating system, disk was changed this week because the old disk is broken)
