If you need to restore your files from a backup (you know, the sfae
copies you create religiously ;-) ) *there is no guarantee* that the 8.3
short-name aliases of the restored files is the same as those of the
original files!

That, and the command line/batch file problem is the reason I originally
disabled 8.3 alias creation - until I installed NAV2002.
