After weeks of testing I am now convinced that the "data error (cyclic
redundancy check)" error that many people seem to be encountering is a
bug and it is related to the size of the file(s) one is trying to
recover FROM the DVD.

It has nothing to do with the DVD drive and/or the media.

I am not sure what the EXACT size of the file(s) is but for me it has
been somewhere between 1.8 and 1.9 gig.

If you try to copy a GROUP of files FROM the DVD back to the HD and
the cumulative size is too much you will get the redundancy check
error. You can copy the same files in batches that are less than 1.8
gig (in my case) and it will work fine.

Now, I also have SINGLE files that are larger than 1.9 gigs that I
have NOT been able to recover from the DVD. If anyone is aware of
third party copy programs that can move bit by bit to the HD please
let me know. There used to be plenty around during the old DOS days.
