svchost 100% cpu usage

HI,
A program called svchost is causing my cpu usage to climb
to 100%. i am working on a pentium 3 500mhz cpu. I have
allupdates and service packs installed for xp and scanned
for viruses many times. Can you help me to solve this
problem?
