I am recieving the same problem. Heres my explination:
Firstly, i unknowningly ran my new purchase of Age Of Mythology on an
old install from a friend, who was present to help me set up for
online play. Then he went home to play as well, and then the game
booted me out. I found the source of the problem, double use of the
same product key, and told him i;ll try a fresh install on my game. I
did so, and it still gives me the exact error, even after creating a
new Username on the Online sub base. Help from anyone please?

You have to buy another copy of the game.

When you connect online to play if someone else with the same product
key connects it'll boot out the other player. EVEN IF YOU USE A
DIFFERENT LOGIN NAME, if you both are using the same Product Key the
system won't let you both play.

If you keep logging in from 2 different computers, ventually Microsoft
will consider the key compromised and DISABLE the key altogether.

In other words, don't try to use the same key on two different
computers.

If Microsoft disables the key you'll have to buy 2 new copies of the
game if you want to play online.

So do yourself a favor, if you want to play with your friend, buy
another cd-key, or disable your internet before you play by yourself.

Ah, sorry Andy, should've explained it in better detail.
My friend has an older copy with a completely different CD key. I bought a
new copy with a completely different CD key. Then after we found our base
problem, he and i both reinstalled our games with our own separate CD keys.
It still gives us those Errors. Without Purchasing another copy(or 2) of Age
of Mythology, is there any possible way of re-enabling it so we can play on
the game?
Thanks.
