There's two ways to have it work.
1 - get a 'no cd crack', best place for that seems to be www.megagames.com.
The crack itself tends to be a file that replaces the games main executable
file. It's advised you rename the original file rather than delete it as
some updates (should you choose to update) won't without the original file.
Note - the cracks tend to work for a specific version of the game. Therefore
if you update the game you'll need to get a new crack. Most cracks include
specific instructions for what to do.
2 - many games will recognize the cd in the drive even when using an image
of the cd mounted in a virtual drive. If going this route, might as well do
a minimum install of the game to save disk space.
Also note that if the intent is to have your buddies also playing the game,
many will not allow you to play online against them as the install key will
be the same (and the game might check for that). If so, look for a keygen to
create a unique key for the game for each install.
