If this seems to happen quite a lot it might be an idea to make backups of the save games you can do this by going to the Start Menu and under the Zoo Tycoon folder there should be a link to Zoo Tycoon 2 Profiles. If you have a look in there you can access the save games themselves. So that way if one does get corrupted you can just restore the backup rather than starting the entire game over from scratch.
