Re: USB Controllers Don't Work in XP after Installing Vista BETA 2

After the install, did you remember to install your motherboard chipset
drivers?

I've run into some problems in Windows XP SP2 after installing Vista
BETA 2 on my computer on another driver in a dual boot setup. It no
longer recognizes my USB game controllers when I plug them in. They
worked prior to installing Vista, Vista sees them, Microsoft's Flight
Simulator X demo sees my Xbox 360 controller, and the 'power on' lights
light up. My 360 controller also shows up in my device manager as
'installed,' but the joystick/controller app of the Control Panel
won't see either of my controllers (the 360 or my Nyko Airflo EX).
Again, Vista sees both when I plug them in, and they both worked fine
before I installed Vista. Now XP seems to be blind to them. I tried to
install new USB drivers (can't tell if it worked or not), and also
tried USB ports that are working for my printer and mouse. One possible
side note is that once I installed Vista it began crying about a
Multimedia Audio Controller of some form that I'd never heard of. I
ignored it since I'd never had a problem with one before, but when I
went into the device manager in XP to try and fix my controllers when
they acted up, it too was fussing about the same problem. The
Multimedia Audio Controller entry had a big, ugly yellow icon on it,
saying 'no drivers'. I installed the drivers I was recommended (Realtek
AC'97 for VIA) but that hasn't helped. I've also reinstalled DirectX,
and tried to install Microsoft's Common Controller 32bit thing but it
won't finish. Does ANYONE know what I can do? I can keep using Vista
but some of my games don't like it. I think it's wierd that Flight
Simulator X can see and run my controller but nothing else can.
