Re: PC keeps shutting down midway through game

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your help.

Am still working through your suggestion but also gave my fans a good clean
as suggested by Jimmy S.

Still getting the game to shut down on me but am now getting different
errors. Got a blue screen telling me of a serious error connected to the BT
Voyager 105 broadband modem driver - but the driver I have for this is also
the latest one I can find. I don't get this when I have the modem unplugged.
But this blue screen is intermitent and can't duplicate it all the time,
just happens sometimes. Forgot to post this last bit to Jimmy S.

Am trying to catch the other errors, but they are a bit fast for me to catch.

Will keep working through the processes.

I have Win XP Home edition fully up to date and am trying to play a game
called Homeworld. I have got all available patches, but still have a
problem.

At no particular point or for any reason I can see, the pc shuts down. I
do
get an error message from windows, you know the, there's been a problem -
debug, report or not. But before I can report it the pc shuts down
completely. I then need to restart it myself, but I don't get the dialog
box
again so I can't report it.

I have therefore went to the event view and have pasted below it's
contents.
Hope you have an idea how to fix this and thank you.

Application Error. No Category Event ID 1000. Description - Faulting
application homeworld.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module homeworld.exe,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00204756.

Hello T9552!

First thing I'd try is disabling other background applications, virus
scanners, other stuff running etc can cause problems. To make sure
everything non-essential is shut down;

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL which will bring up the task manager.
- Click on the processes tab will show the programs currently running on the
system.
-> Select all the ones that are running as your username - not system or
services.
--> Make sure any unsaved data in those programs is first saved and click
end process to close the selected ones.

Once you've done that try running the game again - if it works; then reboot
and close them down one at a time to see if you can work out the process is
causing the issue.

If you post back if that worked or not and mention the process if it did
work we can try and track down the actual application and if you need it
running or not. 8-)
