Re: Dungeon Siege 2: Function failure: GetBackBuffer error...

Microsoft rarely reads these newsgroups, because they're here for peer
support. However:

http://support.microsoft.com/dungeonii is the "Solutions Center" for Dungeon
Siege II.

http://www.gaspowered.com/ds2/support.php?skipLoad=1&; also has links
directly to Gas Powered Games for bugs or feedback. Have you tried those?

You know, I have to be honest and say that I think Microsoft's 'support'
is
one of the worst I have ever encountered, including Sony Onile
Entertainment
and Blizzard, and that's saying something.

I just spent 15 minutes on a page 'loop' within the fabled support site
for
MS, most of the time clicking a product just refreshed the page.
After going into areas with nothing to do with gaming (as none of the game
links would give me any way to request assistance) I finally got to a page
that asked me to input the product identification number.
I load up Dungeon Siege 2, go to About, scroll down, input the licenced
product ID, and you guessed it: "The product ID number you entered is not
supported in the country that you have selected."

So I reload the browser, making sure there's no .com.au so that I get the
USA site (I'm in Australia) and go through the process again, but it still
says Microsoft Australia at the top.
And I get that same response with the product ID.
Yes the ID is correct, I've entered it 15 times now.

Oh, and of course the main avenue from here is to go through the "how to
buy
specialist support" system next. Which there is no way in hell I am doing.

All I want to know is what the heck that error message means. And I cannot
seem to be able to send a simple email off to any support person to ask.

From this point on I guess I am just going to write it off as Microsoft
and
Gas Powered Games not being able to update their product to be compatible
with current generation hardware, and that my system is too "high end" to
run
the game without problems, or something just as silly.

Seriously Microsoft, you need to do something about your Support. You are
so
worried about people using illegal software that you make it near on
impossible for your legitimate users to get the help they deserve for
FREE.
None of this pay for a specialist baloney.

SO, if there's someone at Microsoft who actually reads these Newsgroups,
can
you please let me know how I find out what the error message means? Or
give
me a link to somewhere I can actually email a customer support person?

This is getting way beyond stupid.
