Re: FS9 installs, update 9.1 installs, but neither will run

I have run them in the past on this machine, and hardware.

MSFS9.1 starts, rebuilds the databases, then goes full screen and then disappears.

Have no idea why. I have run AVG, and did an online scan from housecall.antivirus.com.

No viruses present.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Note the time when the simulator shuts down and use the Windows XP Event Viewer (look in the Administrative Tools) to see if there are any clues there.

See if the computer still passes the video and sound tests in the DirectX Diagnostic (type dxdiag in the Start menu's Run pop-up). the diagnostic can also identify your sound and video acceleration hardware and driver versions. If you post that information, others with similar hardware can compare their driver versions to yours. On a FEW occasions the latest driver version isn't the best.

Check FS9.CFG for the FULL_SCREEN value in the GRAPHICS section. If it is 1, change it to 0 so you can determine if you can get the simulator to run in a window. If it will, you can check the simulator's pop-ups for display settings.
