empire earth 2 network problems

I play games over a home network. I can play Empire Earth with no
problems. But I can't play Empire Earth 2 or the expansion pack and I
don't know why. I try to join a game and it won't let me due to a
firewall or the game is full or canceled or something like that. I
have Windows Firewall but it is always disabled. We also have
SystemSuite 6 and BlackIce, but we disable them also. That works for
all of our other games, but it does not work with this one. We also
tried creating an exception for the game in Windows Firewall, but that
has not helped either, along with telling the firewall to allow traffic
through port 26000, which the game says is necessary. Nothing we have
tried has helped. We have contacted the game's technical support, and
so far have not been offered any usable help. Has anyone had these
problems with this game that can help me solve it? I am frustrated and
desperate.
