I don't have any familiarity with the Mech Warrior games, and my recall of
problems that I had trying to install and play the earlier C&C games in
WINXP is foundering. If I'm not mistaken, I was unable to install C&C and
Tiberian Sun not only in WINXP but also in WIN98 on a "newer" (1 Ghz) rig,
but was able to install and play Red Alert2 and Yuri's Revenge in WIN98 (not
WINXP) on this same rig. C&C and Tiberian Sun were installed on an "older"
(500 Mhz) rig, running WIN98.

I guess what I'm trying to say, in a long-winded kinda way, is that
sometimes problems with installing some older games is not just a matter of
incompatibility with a particular operating system, but could be due to
incompatibility with the rig's hardware........one example of simply having
"too much machine" for an older game to handle is receipt of an Integer
Divide by Zero error.

Tiberian Sun is known to have issues when there is more than one optical
drive. If you have more than one optical drive, try installing the game from
the drive with the lowest drive letter.

You might also want to check the game manufacturers' websites for
patches/updates.
