Firewall or spywear affecting game discussion?

I play 'Tarot' on wanadoo.fr - I tried downloading a firewall from windows XP
but after it still appeared off in the control pannel. the same day I cleaned
out the cpu with 'Spybot Search & Destroy' which cleans up spywear, after
going back to the game, I couldn't communicate with anyone. A little notice
says 'connection on cours' but nothing happens. I then tried reinstoring all
the stuff that Spybot had deleted, I tried to download the game again, I even
reinstored the system to a day before, nothing works. I can not communicate.
I believe the firewall is not working because I can still recieve files
through messenger without selecting priority etc. This is not the 1st time!
The last time it happened I went to window update & instored the daily
updates & was ok, this time I'm really stuck.
Please, if there's something I can do.
