halo crashes my laptop

when playing halo my system shuts down and when I send an error message to microsoft they tell me to update my driver for my graphics card. I have done that but the problem persists. Could it have to do with overheating?? I have also slowed down the hardware accelleration but I found that it only lasted a bit longer till the laptop crashed again. My system is a pentium IV 3.06 GHz 512Mb ram 30G HD radeon 9000 mobility graphics card any help would be greatly appreciated.
