I still feel that's in fact what almost all software should do rather than
bloating the registry with entries no-one but itself ever use. Since DOS 3,
software has easily been able to determine it's "home" folder, it's always
passed to the program as command line parameter 0 by the OS, XP included.
Therefore for most programs, it'd be a much better choice if they simply
created any "ini" and/or "cfg" files etc. in this home folder. Anything else
can easily be handled including it in each users save files.
I'm sure we can all agree there's way to much stuff put in the registry that
just doesn't seem to have any "use". Geez, seems everything you install "has
to get their name in there" even if they don't create any sub-keys and/or
values.
