Hi Mikeeymaan,

There's two things that come to mind right away:

1. You might need to install updated chipset drivers,
2. You might need to install updated video drivers, and
3. Your power supply might not be strong enough for the 9800.

Okay, those are 3 things. I was mistaken when I typed '2'. ;-)

| hey, after reading a few of the many pages on this forum, i came to the conclusion that my question hasnt been asked.. so sorry if
this is like the 50th time you guys are hearing this. well, lets start shall we?
|
| after realizing i wanted to expand the gaming section of my computer, i decided to go out and buy a flashy looking ATI Radeon 9800
all-in-wounder Pro. sounds great doesnt it? well.. if only it worked as well as it sounded. i recently reformatted my computer, due
to a few mistakes i made [being the retard that i am]. and after the reformat, my graphics card has been going berzerk. like,
totally annoying. i first thought it was the game [the game being STEAM's counter-strike 1.6] so i reinstalled about 1000 times.
after that, i tried it with other games, like diablo 2: lod. and i downloaded the trial version of Halo [which i must say, is pretty
sweet] and had the same problem. using a net graph in counter-strike 1.6, i determined my graphics card goes from 100 fps for a
minute or two, down to nothing above 20. you have no idea how annoying this is. its pretty much like a smoothe game, and all of a
sudden, just like a freeze, and im dead or something.. its nearly impossible to play anything. starting to drive me mad crazy. so if
the people at microsoft have any help/support, that would be great. even better would be if you could email me a solution? in case i
lose this site or something. or if anyone has an idea, im ready to try anything.. including taking a chainsaw to my graphics card.
allrighty. your help is appreciated.
