How-to config Windows XP Embedded (Short how-to)

Install Windows Embedded from Windows Embedded CD`s.
First install your copy of WindowsXP on Drive C:\ after installing
your PC, you can continue with the Windows XP Embedded installation
There are 4 CD`s, from the first 2 install “XPE” in Drive “C:/” (XP
Embedded), and from the last 2 CD's update the XPE.
Run Component Database Manager, choose Package: Windows XP Embedded
Client (x86) [Version } After choosing Package please go to:
D:\Program Files\Windows Embedded\utilities\ and run tap.exe to get
the Hardware Information from the computer!
Second step:
Run the Target Designer.
File → New → Type Configuration Name:
3. Go File → import: C:/Progam Files/Windows Embedded/utilities/
DEVICES.PMQ
4. Set a name for the Log File and start importing.
5. Press the F5 button
6. Double Click the components down in the tasks and fill the correct
check boxes.
7. Press the F5 button AGAIN for Dependency check.
8. Double Click the components down in the tasks and fill the correct
check boxes.
9. Press the F5 button AGAIN!!!
10.From the Component Menu on the left-hand side of the screen choose
all Software components that you need for the installation. and check
their properties when (Click +)

11.Press the F5 button AGAIN!!!
12.Save the project
13.Press F7 to Build your XPE Image but do it in a different folder
e.g. D:\XPE1
14.Copy all files from D:\XPE1 except boot.ini to D:\
15.Put the line: multi(0)disk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=“Microsoft
Windows XP Embedded” /fastdetect
16.**Restart the System
After a restart, the build will be complete, and WinXpEmbedded will
start automatically
.
