Color Depth and DHCP client oprions

Hi,
I have 2 problems on my xp embedded image. The first one is the automatic
change of the color depth to 32 bit at startup. I set my video card to work
with 16 bit color depth but when the system comes up the color depth is
automatically set to 32 bit. I think it is an option of the power policies
but I cannot find the registry key to modify.
The second problem is is with DHCP client option. I added it to obtain an
apipa ip adderess if my application fail to start but on the network there's
no dhcp server. So the problem is that at startup the systems wait about 2
minutes in "Applying computer setting" in which it tries to reach a dhcp
server. So I need the registry key to modify for decreasing this search
timeout.
