Martin,
I know how frustrating issues on XPe could be - since no source code or debugging capabilities are built-in we are often left alone
to fight with 3rd party software on our images.
Anyway, just want to bring up a couple of ideas that you may want to try out:
- Did you try actually installing the driver software package at runtime? I mean using MSI or whatever the installer is. I
wonder if it works this way and the issue is only around componentization of the driver.
If it does I would try the following tweak:
- add your own component to the image.
- deploy the image and make sure the driver install is ok (no need to test functionality yet).
- at this point you likely got all [most] of the driver files in appropriate places including INFs, SYS, and perhaps
most of the required registry entries.
- run the actual driver installer (MSI) at run time and monitor the installation with a snapshot tools like RegSnap or
InCtrl5 (RegSnap is better since it will give you .reg file as the result).
- if you compare the registry and file system snapshots before and after the install you may find some missing entries
there. Note that there won't be too many entries in the result log since you already had most of the files and reg.entries for the
driver pre-installed with the component.
- If nothing helps, try the driver (install or your component) with XPProEmulation image (www.xpefiles.com, RTM FP2007 version)
to see if you can get it working on XPe at all.

BlueMonkey,
Yes, all the items you mentioned have been tried to no avail. The .inf from XPEfiles was added several weeks ago. I added device
manager so I could see what the devices are doing. All devices show that they are installed and working correctly including the
SigmaTel Audio driver - but when you open the audio control panel item it shows no audio device, no playback device, no midi
device, etc.
And I tried Daniel's suggestion of componentizing the entire application in C:\program files\Sigmatel\C-Major audio.
I think I will punt until after vacation - maybe a few days away will make the light bullb go on?!?
I'd welcome any other suggestions - b.t.w. I added all the UAA drivers (there are 3 if you count the Sigmatel Specific as well as
the Microsoft).
Cheers.

Martin Martin Martin , have you first addressed the areas I mentioned??
Do you have them displaying is Device Manager without an conflicts etc?

Yep, tried all those a few days ago without any luck. I'm really at a loss!

Martin,
A rough guess. Do you have "Audio Control Panel" component included in your build with resolved all dependencies? (since you
mentioned you copied the mmdriver.inf manually I don't think that component included in the config)
"Primitive: MMSYS" component should also be there.
Also, how about the following components:
"Primitive: ks.sys",
"Primitive: Drmk.sys",
"Primitive: Winmm",
"Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter",
"Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo Canceller",
"Microsoft Kernel DRM Audio Descrambler",
"Microsoft Kernel System Audio Device".

Folks,
I am continuing to have problems with componentizing the Sigmatel Audio drivers for the above motherboard. What happens is
that the drivers all appear to install OK yet the audio control panel says "no audio device". You can look at the sigmatel
device and windows reports the device as drivers installed and working properly.
When you double click the sounds control panel icon you get an error saying unable to find mmdiver.inf. Even if I manually
add this to the image the same problem persists.
I have searched extensively and can only find two references to this problem - one where no resoltuion was given and a
second where Sean advised that the sthda.inf was recursively calling other .infs. Per Sean's instructions I included the
referenced infs in the same location and componentized - still the same problem.
I'm lost - anyone got any advice? The setupapi.log reports that the device installs OK - so that really confuses me.
Any help would be appreciated - I've attached the .sld I created in case that helps and the setupapi.log excerpt is below:
