Tom,
Glad you found out about the network drivers. I almost started to think I am crazy :-)
As to the build errors you're seeing. Did you actually create a repository for the driver files when you created that component with
CD?
If you didn't, please do so. Also, please don't forget to associate the component in the SLD with the repository created.

KM,
I now have the network working --- BUT, you were right -- I can't show you
the original files you ask to see because I decided to start from scratch
before your last post. Anyway, this time I paid close attention and although
at the end - it just showed 3 warnings when I scrolled back I could see that
- in fact - it did not load my Broadcom 440 network card drivers.
I don't understand why at this point. It was listed in the TAP output -
which didn't load so I tried to use the Component Designer to configure the
device - it seems to configure it - I then add it to the Component Database
Manager and it appears to accept it. However the errors are during the Build
are:

Anyway, I then manually copied the network drivers into System32 and Inf ---
this makes it work ---- but does not teach me why I didn't get it to work
properly from the original TAP or the Component designer:.! I also get the
same type errors with the Nvidia drivers --- it says it can't find the
files..?
To dumb at this stage to understand why..!

Tom,
It all sounds as the adapter didn't get installed.
Could you please show us here the output of the "ipconfig /all" command?
Also, if you could post here the content of the \windows\fba\FBAlog.txt file it might be helpful.

Sorry I meant to include that ---- shell is Explorer....!

Tom,
And the shell is?

I knew you'd need more - but being new - I didn't know what to include. The
Image is Winlogon, I have tried both Basic TCP/IP Networking and TCP/IP
Networking with File Sharing and Client For MS Networks. The only errors that
showed up was a GEForce Video driver - but the video is working properly now.
I don't know what information to include because I'm (old...) but so new at
this.

Tom,
We'd probably need a bit more details about your image to make the right guess.
What do you use in the image - Minlogon or Winlogon?
What shell do you use? If it is not Explorer shell you will need to register the Local Area Connection item manually.
Do you have the basic TCP/IP stack included in the configuration in TD?
Do you see any conflicts or issues with the network driver in the Device Manager? Also, please check \windows\setupapi.log
file
to
see if the driver got installed properly.

Hi,
A beginner here . I have just started - I'm on a third build of Windows
Embedded (sp2) and I still do not have a "Local Area Connection" when I look
at Network Properties. I do have a 1394 Connection showing. Can someone tell
me what I'm doing wrong (or not doing right) to get a local area connection.
I am using a Dell Inspiron 5150 and I have loaded the Dell Network Drivers
into the Component Database Manager. I imagine I'm not loading something else
that is needed though.
Thanks
Tom
