Re: Problems with Domain Join for XPE FP2007

artk,

I never had troubles with the domain if I included and resolve dependencies of the Domain Participation.

I can only think of the following:
- Is your runtime English based? There were some bugs reported on MUI runtimes with access to domain back in SP1/SP2 times.
Check out product and MUI Release Notes.
- Did you try building heavy image including lost of [most of] components from database. Is the problem reproducible there? As a
start you can use XPProEmulation (FP2007) project from www.xpefiles.com.
- Again, you need to get more details about the issue from the server side. It is very unclear now what the error is occurring
there.

I can do a net use on a domain share using the user\password that
doesn't allow me to join the domain. FBALOG.txt clean,

The error you mentioned is too general to guess what might be wrong with your device.

If you logon to local account (not to domain), are you able to get to domain resources using the same domain user account
credentials? E.g., using net commands providing that user account settings?

You may want to take a look at system common logs to see what went wrong during FBA:
- Event Logs
- FBALog.txt
- SetuApi.log (not muc relevant here but always helps)

Also, you can enable audit and logging on the server side and see why it is rejecting the client logon request.

Both were included. When I attempt the join, a popup returns saying
"The specified server cannot perform then requested operation" The
same username\password works on xp pro against the same dc. When i
try with a bad password, it returns "Logon failure: unknow user name
or bad password"

artk,

You want to have Winlogon and "Netlogon/Netjoin" components in your image.

However, if you start with "Domain Participation" macro and resolve all its dependencies it should bring in all the required
components.

If the above doesn't help you may want to post info here about the errors you are getting.

I've built what seems to be a working XPE for XP Pro image. When I
try to do a domain join, I'm getting various errors that prevent the
domain join from succeeding. Are there any non obvious components or
registry settings I should try,
