Hi all,
I am preparing my own book about WinXP Embedded SP2 in czech language (i am
from Czech Rep., European Uninon). Some information i would like to use are
under "copyright". I am asking how can i use this material(s)? My problem is
i would like to add to my book some info about features of XP Embedded. Can i
use it from MS copyrighted material if i
1) translate it to czech lang
2) add notice "this information is used from [source]"?
Or how to use (c) materials and informations legally? I ask because there is
a "low law" in Czec Rep. and i would not be a "pirat" with licence violence...
Pavel,
US Copyright law is described very well here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_copyright_law
There are many links to the official documents that you may want to
investigate, including the one to the description of International
Copyright law:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Copyright_Act
or this one:
http://depts.washington.edu/uwcopy/Copyright_Law/International_Copyright_Law/
The Czech Republic has adopted the Berne Convention, per this
declaration on the WIPO's website:
http://www.wipo.int/edocs/notdocs/en/berne/treaty_berne_143.html
In order to use a copyrighted work, you will need to get the copyright
holder's written permission to use the work.
