hi,
MSDE runs, SQL Server is on,
if i start CD i could see on the splash screen that the program connects to
the database.
and the programm exits / dieds without a message.

You should have the MSDE installed and the service SQL Server Started.
Check the SQL Server Service Manager to start the service. You find it as
an icon on the notify bar.
CDM TD and CD need to connect to the database. If CDM is unable to connect
you shold see a warning message.

Hi!
i installed xp embedded tools on winXP sp2.
but component database manager wont start.
target designer starts, but if i create a new target device and want to
add a component its stops with no error msg.
and the same problem in component designer it starts but stops if i
create a new component.

there is no error message, no runtime error, no logfile and nothing else.
ive made a test with xpe SP1 and xpe SP2....
i reinstalled embedded a few times... with no effect :-(

specs about my system:
xp sp2
.net framework 2.0
.net compact framework 2.0
vs 6
windows sdk
sql server desktop engine
