I agree. Obviously more RAM you got the bigger hiber.sys file you get :-)

It also depends on your target device characteristics. Get better RPM hard drive and you may get happy with the HORM time. (I've got
2G RAM/ AMD dual core dev machine here and it restores from hibernated state in seconds).

I tested HORM on a system with 2 gigs of Ram and it took much longer to boot than it did without HORM (Standard boot up time).

I then tested it with 256 megs of Ram and it booted in a few seconds, which was much faster than the Standard Boot Time without
Horm or Hibernation.

So I take it if you have lots of RAM, since it all has to be loaded, their "may" not be any speed advantages.

HORM boot is basically machine boot from hibernated state. It loads up OS state from disk (RAM dump) and initializes drivers as
of coming from StandBy mode.
In other words, test how suspend (standby) and hibernation features of XP Pro works on your target and you will get a feeling for
the time HORM will play around.

Hi,

I was sucessful in configuring and enabling EWF and in implementing
HORM. But I don't see any improvement in my boot time. It still takes
the same time as my normal boot. Can anyone tell me if I need to do
something else to have a better boot time using HORM? Any pointers on
this will be really helpful
