Re: Lsass License Error with SP2 During FBA

There are several issues here:
- When you open your SP1 configuration in SP2 TD, upgrade the configuration,
then run through the 'check dependency' phase. Read the relnotes and the
newsgroup archives on how to keep the footprint down because all the
security work in SP2 for Pro introduced new dependencies like the firewall.
You can prevent some of these dependencies in a few cases.
- There are 2 types of PIDs wrt XPe: PID for the tools to be entered during
the installation phase of the tools and DB. There is a seperate PID for the
runtimes that is entered in the configuration. Entering a tools PID into the
configuration will cause the runtime to fail during setup.

Check the blog link below for tons of advice and articles that may help you
in the future, including the link on the left for 'Self Help' with follow-on

Take care.

When FBA is running I get the error:

Lsass.exe - System Error
Security Accounts Manager initialization failed because ...
Error Status: 0xc0000001. Please click OK to shutdown ...

It states on the Runtime Key (PID) flyer that this error should not
happen w/SP2. I suspect that even though I installed SP2, I may still
be using some or all SP1 components. How can I tell if I am using SP1
components and if it turns out I am, how can I make sure I use SP2
components?

I recently installed sp2. I previously had SP1 and had constructed an
image that I am pretty happy with, except that I could not get the PID
to work. Instead of installing QFE #888506, which should have allowed
me to license XPe with SP1, I chose to install SP2, which does not need
the QFE.

When I open the configuration file that I created with SP1 and build an
evaluation image with SP2, the image runs through FBA and runs as I
expect. I noticed that the at bottom right of the screen something
similar to "Evaluation Copy ..... .sp1" is displayed. The "sp1" should
not be in that string if I am using SP2, correct?

When I build the same image with the PID
(XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX) from the license flyer, I get the
"Lsass.exe - System Error" error message.

Thanks, Steve
