Unable to get correct Recorder type

Hello every one...
i am having some problems getting type of recorder being used..
if i insert a CD-R into my drive and use GetRecorderType then i get
long value 1 and also when i use CD_WR even then i recieve same output
i.e 1. which is actually points to Recordable type R not WR what could
be then problem ...
i m looking for it but found no information regarding this...
i am using VC6 for IMAPI implementation....
i shall be very thankful
