Seems like the image always hangs on your target device while installing the monitor (MS generic) driver.
Any chance for you to get back to XP Pro installation on the target and check out there with Device Manager or devcon what was
installed for the monitor there?
It might appear that you would need not a standard monitor component but rather a 3 rd party driver or a different monitor driver.
(you now probably just got the "Device: Monitor" component in the configuration, right?)

Unlike that would fix the problem but moving to the latest sometimes may help.
