Chris,

Can you paste your boot.ini file here.? Did you try modifying the
permissions on the boot.ini and then making the changes?

Can you try running this from a command window.

attrib - h -s -r c:\boot.ini
Make the changes to the boot.ini file and save it. Verify that the changes
you made persisted.
