Is the camera XP compatible? I assume it should be. I've had similar
errors when connecting an old Sandisk Cardreader that I have. It isn't
supported for XP, so there isn't a driver. They tell you to force
through the 2K driver which I did, but my computer began crashing. If
you had to do something similar with your camera it may be causing the
same problem.
Also, you could try removing the usb hardware from device manager and
having XP redect it on reboot.
