Having never been to Honolulu, and knowing little about it, I will not attempt to make the assumption you might want me to make.

I installed Vista Beta a long time ago and have used man builds since.
RTM has been running well for almost 3 months so your prediction is FALSE in my case.
All my hardware works as well as all my software.
Nero 6 has limited use, but it does all I need so the issues are irrelevant for me.

But the hardware manufacturers like this myth that seems to spread farther than it deserves.
I have Vista successfully installed on a desktop and a laptop.
The newest component is a nearly 2 year old video card in the Desktop.
No Aero on the laptop and more memory would help but is far from necessary.

As I already said, if you have read the available information, you can make your own decision.
The reasons are on the Microsoft pages.
If they do not apply to you, do not upgrade.
I have no reason to convince anyone although you thing I should. Why?

I have said countless times in newsgroups...
It is not a good reason to upgrade anything, hardware, software, operating systems etc simply because a newer version exists.
If there is not some type of benefit expected, stay where you are.
This applies to everything from every source, not just Microsoft.

You STILL can't come up with even FIVE Good Reasons to UPGRADE from XP Pro -- NOW.

It will take a YEAR or SO for many OTHER vendors who already supply software to work on XP to UPGRADE THEIR Products -- so install Vista and find many of your current programs won't work properly, or at ALL -- as has been true with previous versions of Windows.

The vendors SAY their software will work just fine -- but often it does NOT.

In other words, you want someone else who is unaware of your specific situation to dictate to you why you need to spend your money and how?
Perhaps you need to be told.
But for the rest it is not "red- herring cop-outs".
However if you insist, post details of all your computer uses and needs, including details of all present hardware.
Also post details of your finances so a better evaluation can be made.
Be sure to include details of your business associations, family, address etc.
With that information, I am sure someone here can help you determine if Vista or your current operating system is right for you.
Right now, you have given NOTHING so no one can give you a definitive answer on what is right for you.

Give me TEN Good Reasons why it's important to UPGRADE to Vista, in brief BULLET FORM -- you don't need to know my precise configuration -- but it's a computer I bought for $4000 just over a year ago -- from a VERY REPUTABLE VENDOR -- and I've kept ALL the software upgraded and installed ALL the Microsoft Upgrades and Bug Fixes. Current Today. Except for Explorer 7.0 -- which I DID install TWICE and then REMOVED TWICE. It's not ready for Prime Time.

My FINANCES are NO limitation.

More than likely you have already decided there is no reason for you to upgrade.

AFAIK, no one in these newsgroups ever suggested you needed to upgrade to Vista, certainly not me.

Give us the Good Reasons ANY Home User, who is computer savvy should upgrade to Vista from Windows XP Pro -- TEN of them in BRIEF BULLET FORM.

Microsoft should have ADS like that.

I'm VERY pro Microsoft and a stockholder as well -- but I don't see the rationale for upgrading to VISTA -- NOW.

The roll out has been botched badly -- as was that for Explorer 7.0.

WAIT until after SP2 on VISTA is the best bet -- if you can afford to wait and have a new machine.

I've not seen any feature yet described in VISTA that is essential for doing ALL the things one regularly does on a computer that one can't do with XP Pro.

But it's best to wait until the kinks have been ironed out or the computer breaks to upgrade -- months and perhaps YEARS from now.
