I?ve just had my Inspiron 6400 for a couple of weeks, I experienced
the same thing. Found you on a search for the problem and hadn?t
realized that it was probably TweakUi that did it! Probably you are
right. I have only gotten the Touchpad back with reinstalling the
drivers but can?t get that very useful Options box that allowed the
vert/horiz scrolling and the 4 "hot spots" on the touchpad corners.
Anyway, am still searching and hate to System Restore back that far,
it may bring all that bloatware back!...... Will post here if I have
any luck
Cheers

Alec,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Before using TweakUI the "Mouse" link in my control panel
brought up a
Synaptics touchpad options box. After installing TweakUI the
"Mouse" link in
the control panel would respond with a message saying it
could not find the
Synaptics driver. Also after installing TweakUI the only mouse
options box I
could get to seemed to be a generic Windows driver box. Also -
the touchpad
on my Dell laptop has an area in the horizontal and vertical
edges that
function like wheels allowing for faster scrolling. These were
disabled when
I installed TweakUI.
The bottom line is that I seemed to lose the Synaptics
features of my
touchpad and they were replaced with generic Windows
functions.
Thanks for your help.
