resolution size question

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi,

currently i am running a Hp Pavilion dv5000 widescreen with 1280 x 800
resolution.
xp, sp2.

I am really weird, and I love big open spaces so i want to increase my
resolution size.
In the default settings, I 'can' up to 2048 x 1536, but when I go
larger (not 2048 big, but around 1600 or so) the screen changes sizes
and all, but now to see the entirety of my screen i have to scroll
around (not with a scroll bar but it does it automatically when the
pointer reaches the edge of the screen).

Is there anyway to change this so the icons proceed to get smaller, I
get more space, and i dont have to scroll around to find the edges of
my desktop?

--Thanks, Brad
