Thanks, again, WB (and PoP)
You both suggested I re-look at the scanner program, and I did.
There is a Temporary Folder that must hold the photo while it is being
edited before you send it to the final folder where you want it saved.
Ive looked in this folder and it is always empty, but for whatever reason
I named a new place to be the Temporary folder, and 'voila'.....now the
scanned and edited photos go to folder the program was saying was 'out of
free space'. I dont understand why, but it's working now. Thanks guys
for steering me in the right direction
You're welcome and thanks for letting us in on how you fixed it.

Well, that seemed to work. The photo is now on the supposedly full
partition. Thanks. But, what does it mean? Do I have to do the same
for all the future scans?

I am in the process of scanning a multitude of photo slides and storing
same in one partition (1 of 3) of a 40 GB HD. START > MY COMPUTER >
PROPERTIES reports there is 12 GB left free of the 13 GB total.
CHKDSK also reports the same. Yet my scanner reports insufficient
space to save the last photo, that 2 MB is necessary.
What is wrong that I cannot store any more photos on this partition?

Save the last scan to a different partition, then drag it to the
partition in question and see if that works.

You're welcome.
My guess is the scanner is not detecting free space correctly.
Close and then restart the scanner software and check if problem
persists.
Try also to reboot your computer and scan again. Check if issue is
duplicated.
