Re: Creating 'Disclaimer' pop up box on log on

Is it possible to do this using group policy? I've been looking but cant
find anything.

It's hidden where you might not think to look. I had to cheat to find it.

Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\
Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options

Interactive logon: Message title for users attempting to log on

Description
Allows the specification of a title to appear in the title bar of the window
that contains the Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to
log on.

Default: No message.

Paste the following line into Start | Run and click OK...

Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on

Description
Specifies a text message that is displayed to users when they log on.

This text is often used for legal reasons, for example, to warn users about
the ramifications of misusing company information or to warn them that their
actions may be audited.

Default: No message.

Caution
* Windows XP Professional adds support for configuring logon banners that
can exceed 512 characters in length and that can also contain
carriage-return line-feed sequences. However, Windows 2000 clients cannot
interpret and display message text that is created by Windows XP
Professional computers. You must use a Windows 2000 computer to create a
logon message policy that applies to Windows 2000 computers. If you
inadvertently create a logon message policy using a Windows XP Professional
computer, and you discover that it does not display properly on Windows 2000
computers, do the following:
* Undefine the setting.
* Redefine the setting using a Windows 2000 computer.

Simply changing a Windows XP Professional-defined logon message policy using
a Windows 2000 computer does not work. The setting must be undefined first.

Thanks for this guy's, it has been helpful!

The only thing is that its only on a local machine, now I have created a
package and deployed it across my networks so ultimately it worked well!

after a user presses CTRL+ALT+DEL to log on.

CTRL+ALT+DEL to log on.

LogonPrompt
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Specifies a message for the Log On to Windows dialog box. By default,
there
is no logon prompt message.

Hi guys,

Im looking for help with creating a disclaimer pop up saying something

along the line of "By logging on to this network you are agreeing to
adhere to the rules and policies of this company, if you accept click
yes."

Clicking yes will then proceed with log on, clicking no will return
you to
the log on screen.

I'm pretty sure Windows NT 4.0 let you do this or something similar
but I cant seem to find anything on XP, although I can make a log on
script to work with the group policy and point it in the direction of
a java script but i'm 60% sure their's an easier way!

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Ryan
