There's nowhere from Microsoft to get the modified files. Sites like www.belchfire.net and others have them, but they are hacked versions of the original files, so use them at your own risk.

Because the logon/logoff screens are not controlled by user preferences. They are resources in executable files. For now, the only way to change the colors is to download replacement files, or hack your own.

I have been wondering. Since the start of Windows XP I have always strongly
disliked the blue color. I always have the themes set to Silver.

My question is the following:
Is there any possibility that the blue logon screen can be replaced by a
silver one?

I do NOT wish to install bogus tools to edit the screens. Out of experience
I know they tend to completely make Windows crash.

I presume that MS has to figure it out for at least the standard colors. If
they allow the changing of the theme while logged on, why not the logon
screens?
