Mouse button

Looking for help with my mouse buttons. I have 4 users, including myself, set up on XP pro. When one of the other users is on before me, the mouse buttons are reversed when I get back on. I have gone into the control panel and changed this back, by unchecking the box, at least 50 times. I have searched Google, and a number of Windows books, but can locate no additional information beyond the basic options available in the "mouse" section of the control panel.
When I look at the mouse settings in the control panel for each of the other users, the box marked "switch primary and secondary buttons" is not checked. It is not checked on mine now, but if one of the other users logs on, then off, and I log back on, the buttons will once again be reversed.
I can't figure out if this is a registry setting or what, but somehow it seems to be a default situation creating the change. I do not have any idea how this occurred, and thus have no idea where to go to fix it.
Any info on how I can make the box stay "unchecked" would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
