Re: IE reverts to www.msn.com as home page after boot

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

The my.yahoo.com home page button works until the next boot. I have done very little on this PC other than assemble it, put on XP, performed the windows update (including SP2), copied over some old files from the PC I want to replace, and downloaded some newer version of favorite utilities from the internet.

From googling, I have seen a lot of similar problems related to using blank for a home page, but none for Yahoo or a similar page. I copied over the old favorites directory from the Windows/ME system I am trying to replace -- I wonder if there is something there Windows/XP doesn't like...seems unlikely, but I am grasping for straws.

This is my third XP system, I have a 2 year old laptop and a 1 year old desktop.

Are you certain you're not clicking the "Default' button as you exit, that
would set it back to MSN.... Just type the name of the page you want to use
and then go down and to the left and click o.k....Don't touch those buttons
under the search field...

Hi,

I just installed XP on a newly built computer. Whenever I change my home
page to my.yahoo.com, all is well until the next boot -- it reverts back
to www.msn.com.

I have scanned with SpyBot, it found nothing but a couple of tracking
cookies.

Any ideas appreciated.

Roger
