Go to www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/downloads/powertoys.asp and download
the TweakUI application. Install the application and run the program. In the
tweakui window click on the Logon option in the menu on the left. From the
drop down menu select Unread Mail. When the window opens remove the tick
from the 'show unread mail on the welcome screen' option. Finally click the
Apply button followed by OK to exit.
