Try This;

Right Click your Desktop; goto properties, Appearance
Tab, Under Font Size make it either large or extra large
fonts.

If that doesnt solve all of your problems, use Start>All
Programs>Accessories>Accessibility>Magnifier

pretty easy to use and should alalow your friend to
see "hard to see" items.
