Hello
I use aVast AV software for email protection and Zone Labs firewall for
internet protection. This morning on boot up the Windows Security Alerts icon
has appeared in my system tray. It appears that the Windows Firewall has
switched itself on and there is no way to switch it to OFF. The OFF (not
recommended) button will not allow me to check it therefore the Windows
Firewall stays ON.
How can I turn the Windows Firewall OFF please?
Many thanks

Well try to Turn ZA OFF first and try to Let windows Firewall Start and then
Enable ZA, be sure that ZA not turned OFF at the moment or the Present Time.
If ZA is turned OFF windows Firewall will Pop-up or Turn itself ON.
Try this:
Open a Run commmand and type o copy & Paste this:
rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132
%windir%\inf\netrass.inf
Restart Windows, and then run this command (from Command Prompt):
NETSH FIREWALL RESET
Then try to turn WF OFF and Turn ZA ON, be sure your computer is clean from
malwares though.
HTH.

Hi AW,
Try this, open the Run command and type in:
services.msc click [OK].
On the Services window scroll down to security center and stop it from
starting.
Also make sure that on your Internet connnection you don't enable the
firewall for that connection.
To be in safe side install another firewall like ZA.
HTH.
