I am trying to resolve an issue of everything on my computer reacting very very slow. I have gone to a number of site recommended in MS Newsgroups. So far nothing. I have gone through all my logs just looking for something that might direct me. I have come across numerous times, files being referenced from my D:drive which was only created when I had to re-install Windows quite some time back. I have just used it for some back up info (or so I thought). What am I missing here? Obviously I do not know as much as I should about a partition. Can you direct me on this?? This is one of the event viewer logs: Event Type: Error Event Source: COM+ Event Category: (98) Event ID: 4863 Date: 10/10/2004 Time: 2:24:34 PM User: N/A Computer: THEBEAST Description: TransactionManager->GetWhereabouts failed. If Distributed Transaction Coordinator is configured to use remote host to coordinate transactions, it is likely that remote host cannot be contacted. You can configure MSDTC to use local coordinator by clicking MSDTC toolbar button in Component Services MMC snap-in. Since further execution is impossible at this time, server process has been terminated. COM+ Services Internals Information: File: d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\comsvcs\txprop\dtcinfo.cpp, Line: 164 Comsvcs.dll file version: ENU 2001.12.4414.258 shp And what does this one mean? I have not been getting all my events when I go to event viewer but this was not my priority issue. Plus I have not seen this message before. Event Type: Information Event Source: dcfssvc Event Category: None Event ID: 105 Date: 10/13/2004 Time: 9:09:36 PM User: N/A Computer: THEBEAST Description: The description for Event ID ( 105 ) in Source ( dcfssvc ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: The event log file is corrupt.. Also forgot: I am using Sysinternals Process Explorer. When my system was stalling and task mgr showing cpu usage was maxed I checked the process explorer. One of the svchost.exe was showing to be the process. I highlighted it (PID 692), and among the hundred +/- handles was a line saying: D:\System Volume Information\tracking.log. So again I don't understand and wonder how much of my current computer issues are related to this. AND D:\$Extend\$ObjId I am using WinXP Home SP2 (this was a problem before SP2) 512ram Dell Dimension 4300 P4
