After doing a temporary change to a higher screen resolution I am left with the situation where, whenever IE7 is launched from a shortcut on the desktop, or often from a link on a page, it is launched in minimized mode.
I have been unable to find any method of maximising it and then closing it, so that it will henceforth be launched maximised.
Presumably there is a setting somewhere that has been affected by the temporary screen resolution change.
Any suggestions for a solution?
TIA

Any window you want to resize permanently must be the /last/ window closed.

Grab the corners of the window and drag it to full screen size. Do not use Maximize. Close all other windows first via the Taskbar and this one last. Windows will remember the *last* screen size used the next time you open the program.

Thanks Bruce for your reply.
I have just tested this with a shortcut that I have on my Desktop to a webbsite.
I have done exactly what you have specified and tried closing with both the top right X and also File | Exit.
Unfortunately neither made any difference to the outcome.
It still opens in the smaller footprint that was caused by my temporary change of screen resolution.
Any more suggestions gratefully received.

Whichever shortcut you are using to launch the window, right click it and select properties. Under the 'Run' drop-down, choose "Maximized".

When I right click a shortcut on the desktop to a website, and select Properties, I am not offered a 'Run' dropdown or any option to control the page size.
Incidently the problem can also occur with an online hyperlink to a web page.

And then there is this.

IE New Window Maximizer 2.4.0.1

I will have a look at this and report back.
Thanks for the help so far.

If you still have no luck, ask in the Internet Explorer newsgroup. I personally have never had a problem using my first suggestion, but I also have never had the problem you describe. When I revert back to my normal resolution, everything is always back to normal.

Internet Explorer General Newsgroup.

On the Web:

Results so far using IE New Window Maximizer 2.4.0.1 appear great.
Thanks so much Bruce for your help.
Brian
