Is there a microsoft Office freeware almost as good product out
there? I thought someone referred to it in this group.

The reference was probably to Open Office (formerly Star Office)
which reads MS Office formats and can duplicate a large number
of its functions: available free from several locations inc.
www.openoffice.org.

It's free also, so watch out for other sites that sell the same thing.
Uses the GPL if IIRC. Very, very capable now at rev 3.1, the latest.
