Thanks, It's much easier to respond to your points one by one this way.
:-)

Now, I'll be picky again. Please post using plain text. Rich text (HTML)
is not needed, and it actually can be confusing. For instance, the lines
of your posts should show up with one of these:

on each line. Just like what you wrote above:

Ok I am posting inline :)

But when you don't post in plain text, attributions don't work out the
same way. Scroll down and you will see my content from two posts ago
also have one ">" mark. But they should have *two* of these marks!

Furthermore, depending on the news client people use, rich text can show
up as gobbledygook.

And although I won't be doing it this post, I normally like to snip away
impertinent parts of other posts, to make it as streamlined as possible.
If you post in Plain Text, that will make it *much* easier for me and
others to do this.

Got it.

Hi Daave, You are saying that the two "errors" I have posted are not
errors, there were no errors then before or after.. .I see now they
are information.
I am copying and pasting your comments here so I can respond to them

Not two computers.. Rainy is not my real name it's my screen name, I
forgot to change the name on the second one.. oops! :)

The only hardware problemes I was having was my keyboard.. but my son
gave me his old one.. no other problems unless you count an ethernet
card inboard that stopped working, then showed up later, I bought a
plug and play ethernet card and disabled the inboard one..

I have had these two errors for a couple of weeks duration.

So in two whole weeks, you only had two errors? I wouldn't worry about
it then. well ok then! :) lol

You see? You're "well ok then! :) lol" looks like it's part of my words!
That's beause you insist on inline.. :)

Yes, I think you really don't have anything to be concerned about.
Ok then
I was just in Device manager, and nothing shows up.. no exclamation
points .. only that red x for the disabled inboard ethernet card...Is
there a way to disable it
in Bios? is that a good idea?

I wouldn't worry about it.LOL but you didn't say if it was a good
idea or not.. I had a multimedia audio controller that was part of
the motherboard that didn't seem to want to go away.. every time I
booted, the add new hardware thing would come up and look for the
driver.. so I disabled it in bios because it didn't belong to the new
sound card. .. I had to.. because I was repairing the OS and it was
giving me errors.. once I did that no problems. Now granted, the
ethernet adapter inboard is not causing me any problems so I guess I
should not worry about it.. LOL

I think it's a good idea not to worry about it. :-)

No I have not performed any hardware diagnostics.. not in the 2 weeks
I have received these errors (2)
No I am not on my computer when this happens.. so no I am not doing
anything in particular
Usually in my email.. Outlook Express just before
My computer is in good shape as far as checking for malware and
virus.. I update at least before I scan.. if not every day.. I also
do my maintenance on a daily basis. I'm obsessive about
maintenance.. I have an older computer that I take very good care
of..

Although malware is not my first guess, you neglected to say what
antimalware programs you use. Besides, you have presented no evidence
of
any problem! (Two errors in two weeks? Not a big deal IMO.)

I use ad-aware se, and asquared and spybot S & D Not all the time
but just recently)

All good, but there are no antivirus programs in the mix! You definitely
need one!

I use AVG 8.5 free

I don't know what third party software is? sorry!

That would be any software you install (software that didn't come with
Windows XP). OK.. I see. not since or right before the errors.

My latest hardware is my new sound card, and a stick of ram.. 512mb
to add to the other two.. although I do not see any different with
the added ram.. total is 1.5*gigs.. I am heavy into graphics..
that's why I need an extra amount.. I have only three slots so more
will be coming.. lol

Is there a way to test the ram? I bought it from Crucial .. I think
they are reliable..

One way is to use Windows Memory Diagnostic:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
I downloaded the file and created an image for a cd.. I don't have
any floppies.. so it plopped a rar in my documents.. which has i386
on it and inside of that.. is windiag.. so what do I do with it.. :)
do I click on it? lol I know i sound stupid.. :)

Instead of burning the .iso file to a CD, you need to create a bootable
CD *from* the .iso file. Most CD burning programs (e.g., Nero,
CDBurnerXP, ImgBurn) can do this.

Ok I will try this.. thanks for all the help.. not sure why those < are not
here.. I'm in plain text..
hugs Rainy
