Hi I just purchased and installed a new sound card.. A Creative Sound
Blaster X FI Extreme Audio. (sounds great) Ok The reason I did was
because
I could never find the Multimedia Audio control for my very old creative
sound card. and it didn't have the quality of sound I was looking for.
So
thinking that a new sound card would come with it's own Multimedia Audio
Control, I was surprised to see the yellow exclamation point for my new
card
at Multimedia audio Control.. either this is old from the other sound
card,
or I have the same problem with the new card. :) does this make sense? .

If I need the multimedia audio control, where do I get it?
I have been to creative sound blaster website and put in search Multimedia
audio Control and they don't have such a thing.. or.... I can't find it..

/ Control Panel / Multimedia is a component of the WinXP OS
(not of any particular sound card.)

Standard cure for hardware driver malfunctions is
1. Make a written note of the filepath to the right device driver.
2. In / Control Panel / System/
remove the device completely, then reboot.
3. In a standard installation, Windows should find the device
as "new hardware" and prompt you for the drivers, cf. #1.
The Registry may be preset to the wrong filepath (e.g. to
that for an audio device you have removed) but you can
/ Browse to the correct filepath.
4. If this does not work OK, you can use / Control Panel
/ Add Hardware and enter the data manually.

NB: If this motherboard ever had Sound on Board, you
should beforehand turn it off in the BIOS, so as not to
impede the new sound card.

Repost here with results.
