When I try to save Word docs I get a message saying that a file permission
error prevents this. I click OK and a message appears saying would I like
to
retry. I say yes and it saves it as a squiggleWRLxxxx.tmp.doc file. What's
going on? I'm using Word 2000 on Windows XP Pro SP3. Is it Word or XP
that's
the problem?

The problem is that the permissions for the file in questions are not set
correctly. It is your job to solve such things.
