Thanks & I know it doesn't as I wrote a disclaimer as such but
figured everyone has an ISP.

1a - as I said, I have a single line filter on the phone, which is
in the kitchen & no filter on the wall in the bedroom where the DSL
is plugged in, using a 40 foot phone line

What phone line? What does the phone line have to do with your DSL?
Perhaps you mean the special DSL cable instead.

I am sure he is referring to the telephone cable (quite long!) running
from the wall outlet to the DSL modem.

1b - as i stated, w/ a single line filter on the dsl in the wall, it
doesn't work at with one, so i tried several & same result so i
removed it

You need the double-line filter connected to the phone jack where the
DSL cable goes, not a single. The DSL cable goes in one connector and
a regular phone cable can go in the other.

I've never seen one of those. What I have is a DSL modem that has an
outgoing port for a telephone (presumably with a built-in filter). Of
course, connecting a phone to the DSL modem is optional.
