Re: Downloads

Sounds like you're having a problem with automatic updates (this is why
I personally prefer to install mine manually). First, have a look at
this post to see if it seems relevant:

I think you'd have better results posting to
microsoft.public.windowsupdate. Good luck.

I tried downloading from my daughter's computer onto disc but when I
tried to run the disc on my computer I got the following message:
'Another installation is in progress. You must complete that
installation before continuing this one.'
Something else I've noticed, when I go to turn off my computer it has
the common message of:
'Click Turn Off to install important updates and turn off your
computer.' But all it does is turn off without installing the updates
and the same is happening every time I turn off.
Seems like something has stuck and I haven't got a clue as to how to
solve this problem.
Thanks for trying to help.

Just because you can't complete a download doesn't mean you're not
able to install. It just means you can't install whatever it is you
are trying to downlaod!

If you have access to another PC, go this site to download the very
light OffByOne browser:

http://offbyone.com/offbyone/ob1_download.htm

Either copy the installation file or just the zipped program itself
(which doesn't even need to be installed; it just needs to be
unzipped!) to a flash drive, CDR, or even a floppy! Yes, you can run
this program off a floppy if you wish!

By the way, downloads wind up here:
C:\Program Files\HPSW\OffByOne

Another good browser (with more functionality) is K-Meleon:

I'm unable to download anything, I've tried updates, programs -
such as
Flash Player and also subinacl.msi which Flash Player led me to -
I can't

for years.
I've tried System Restore back to 13th May, the 12th May was

So can anyone out there help me please?

If IE7 is your only browser , try installing another browser and
see if it happens then .
